Sparkill, N.Y. - On Thursday, St. Thomas Aquinas College in conjunction with the East Coast Conference announced the recipient of ECC's annual Elite 19 Award for Softball. The award's presentation, which traditionally takes place during the conference's annual softball tournament, was postponed due to inclement weather throughout the event, which also forced changes to the league's postseason schedule.
The ECC Elite 19 honor is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average competing in each of the ECC's 19 championships.
STAC Softball student-athlete Sarah Williams was named the recipient of the award, for the second consecutive season, after posting a perfect 4.00 GPA, while majoring in Childhood Education with a concentration in Mathematics.
On the field this season, the senior from New Hyde Park, NY, posted a .241 batting average, with four doubles, three RBI and four runs scored in 30 contests.
