St. Thomas Aquinas College's Carissa Della Vecchia has been named the East Coast Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday, for the second consecutive week, and following the Spartans' 2-0 week on the diamond.
Della Vecchia increased her record to 4-0 with an impressive one-hit shutout over Nyack in a 1-0 victory last week. The lefthander struck out 16 batters, walked only one and retired the final 17 batters in a row, including fanning five of the last six.
STAC (6-2) next travels to Felician University in another non-conference doubleheader on March 29. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 2:30pm at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex in New Jersey with game two to follow.
