St. Thomas Aquinas College Softball player Melissa Sadler was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans 2-6 week.

Sadler posted a hot .435 batting average, going 10-for-23 at the plate, with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored in 8 contests during last week. Missy also contributed a double and was walked twice by opposing pitchers, while putting up a .480 on-base percentage, a .478 slugging percentage and a 0.958 on-base percentage plus slugging.

The freshman outfielder from Milton, N.Y. has also been playing tough defense for the Spartans, as Sadler posted a .917 fielding percentage, while making only 1 error in her 8 games last week in centerfield.

The 18-26 Spartans concluded the 2017 Season at Molloy College on Sunday, and with only one graduating senior departing the roster and a bevy of incoming recruits to join the current cast, the future of Spartan Softball looks to be brighter than ever.
