Sparkill, N.Y. - For the second straight day, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team took down an East Coast Conference opponent in straight sets, this time blanking American International College in a Saturday morning match at the Spartan Athletic Complex.

STAC moves to 8-11 overall and 2-0 in ECC play, while AIC falls to 1-13 and 0-2.

How it Happened

  • As a team, St. Thomas Aquinas recorded 42 kills compared to American International's 29. The Spartans also had 3 blocks and 40 assists, while the Yellow Jackets tallied 4 blocks and 28 assists.
  • STAC outhit AIC by a .395 to .261 margin for the match.
  • Kyran Versteegen paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 17 kills. Versteegen also registered a serve assist, two service aces, four digs and two block assists.
  • Marcus Franck tallied a match-high 24 serve assists (8.0 assists/set). He also accumulated three digs and a block assist for the maroon and gold.
  • Jakob Schwarz picked up seven kills, two serve assists, three service aces and three digs on Saturday.
  • Luis Grath and Santiago Valenca racked up five kills apiece, with Grath adding two serve assists, two service aces and a dig, and Valenca tallying a serve assist and three digs against the Yellow Jackets.
  • Rayden Powell contributed three kills, two digs and three block assists.
  • David Weiss accumulated three kills and a dig in the match.
  • Bas van Deventer put together a match-high ten dig effort for the maroon and gold in his first full match of the season.
