Blauvelt, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team avenged their five-set home loss to Dominican University in late March, with a 4-1 statement win on Friday evening at the Hennessy Center.

STAC moves to 11-12 overall and 4-1 in ECC play, while Dominican slides to 6-17 and 2-3.

St. Thomas Aquinas earned a narrow victory in the opening set, before Dominican rebounded to tie up the match at 1-1 with second set success. However, the maroon and gold answered back with a pair of dominant set triumphs to win the day.

How it Happened

  • As a team, St. Thomas Aquinas recorded 48 kills compared to Dominican's 40. The Spartans also had 5.5 blocks and 43 assists, while the Chargers tallied 7 blocks and 38 assists.
  • STAC outhit Dominican by a .321 to .221 margin for the match.
  • Jakob Schwarz paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 17 kills. Schwarz also registered a service ace, 13 digs and two block assists.
  • Marcus Franck tallied a team-high 30 serve assists (7.5 assists/set). He also accumulated a kill, two service aces, four digs and a block assist for the maroon and gold.
  • Kyran Versteegen picked up 16 kills, three serve assists, two service aces, ten digs and a block assist on Friday.
  • Luis Grath racked up six kills, a serve assist, four digs and three block assists against the Chargers.
  • Rayden Powell and Santiago Valenca contributed three kills apiece, with Powell also picking up three digs and Valenca earning a block assist.
  • David Weiss accumulated a pair of kills, a service ace, two digs, a solo block and a block assist across four sets in the match.
