Sparkill, N.Y. - Despite giving their opponents an early scare by taking the first set of Saturday's match, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Long Island University at the Spartan Athletic Complex.
STAC slips to 3-6 on the year, while LIU improves to 6-2.

How it Happened
- As a team, STAC recorded 45 kills compared to LIU's 44. The Spartans also had 7 blocks and 44 assists, while the Sharks tallied 10 blocks and 41 assists.
- Long Island University outhit St. Thomas Aquinas College by a .189 to .108 margin for the match.
- Kyran Versteegen led the Spartans offense with 14 kills. He also had three assists, two service aces, six digs and two block assists.
- Marcus Franck tallied 32 serve assists (8.0 assists/set). Franck also accumulated four kills, a service ace and seven digs for the maroon and gold.
- Gabriel Vieira recorded 13 kills, an assist, seven digs and three block assists on the afternoon.
- Jannis Freude put together a six kill, two dig and two block assist effort against the Sharks.
- David Weiss registered four kills, an assist and five block assists for the Spartans.
- Nicholas Santos picked up two kills and five digs on Saturday.
- Ivaylo Todorov accumulated four assists and a match-high 21 digs over four sets.
