St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis student-athlete Henry Ronnberg receieved dual recognition for his outstanding work on the court, in the classroom and in the community on Tuesday, as The EDU Ledger magazine announced Ronnberg as a second runner up for the 2026 Arthur Ashe Jr. Male Sports Scholar Athlete of the Year, while the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recognized the Ahus, Sweden native with the Division II East Region Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.

As the name denotes, the annual Arthur Ashe edition is part of the magazine’s over a quarter-century legacy of recognizing young, outstanding men and women who have distinguished themselves in their academic and athletic pursuits.
Student-athletes named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5, be at least a sophomore academically, and participate in community service. In addition to this year’s finalists, Top Conferences and Institutions will also be recognized.
Of the over 900 students nominated, The EDU Ledger has named Zuby Ejiofor (St. John's University Men's Basketball) and Alice Yu (Johns Hopkins University Women's Volleyball) the 2026 Arthur Ashe Jr. Male and Female Sports Scholar of the Year for best exemplifying the standards of scholarship, athleticism, and humanitarianism.
About Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award
The ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recognizes outstanding student-athletes in all five divisions (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO) at the regional and national level. This prestigious award, which dates back to 1982, is presented to the men’s and women’s national student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
The past ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recipients are included with the ITA Regional and National Awards announcements.
Ronnberg and his Spartans teammates punched their ticket to a second straight NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championship Final with a 4-0 shutout victory over Adelphi University in the East Regional on Tuesday afternoon in Sparkill.
