Sparkill, N.Y. - Playing a pre-NCAA Regional tune-up match on Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team scored a 7-0 shutout victory over Baruch College at the Riley Family Tennis Courts.
STAC closes its regular season schedule at 18-5, while Baruch falls to 15-3.
Doubles
STAC took the early momentum by winning all three doubles matches to claim the team point. The first result came at No. 3 doubles, where Ondrej Sramek & Erik Victor Tauson beat Joshua Bey & Anlact Huynh, 6-1. The Spartans followed with another win at No. 2 doubles, as Don Vinz Lominoque & Nagamitsu Kuroda downed Samuel Park & Ryan Huang, 6-4. The final doubles match to finish came at No. 1, where Henry Ronnberg & Theo Renoux bested Philipp Roeder & Juan Mendoza, 6-4.
Singles
Singles play saw the maroon and gold take all six bouts to win the match. No. 4 Erik Victor Tauson won his contest against Juan Paredes 6-0, 6-0, followed by No. 3 Nagamitsu Kuroda besting Samuel Park 6-3, 6-1 and No. 1 Lorenzo Meschini beating Juan Mendoza 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. No. 6 Alberto Espinosa Navarro downed Ryan Huang 6-0, 6-1, with No. 5 Nathan Yacar defeating Joshua Bey 6-3, 6-4 and finally No. 2 Theo Renoux dispatching Philipp Roeder 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5) to end the day's events.
