Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team punched its ticket to Arizona and the program's second straight trip to the NCAA Division II Championship Finals on Tuesday, courtesy of a 4-0 shutout victory over Adelphi University in the East Regional Tournament held at the Riley Family Tennis Courts on the STAC campus in Rockland County.
The win moves the Spartans to 19-5 on the season, and is the team's eighth triumph in their last ten matches. Meanwhile, the Panthers close their 2025-2026 campaign at 15-8.
STAC now awaits the seedings for the upcoming NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Finals, which will take place May 20-24 in Surprise, Arizona at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex. The Pacific West Conference and the City of Surprise will serve as hosts.
Doubles victories by the maroon and gold at the No. 1 (Theo Renoux & Henry Ronnberg 6-2 over Andrea Albiero & Viktor Hockl) and No. 2 (Don Vinz Lominoque & Nagamitsu Kuroda 7-5 over Louca Bertone & Thomas Horsley) positions gave St. Thomas Aquinas the first team point of the day.
Once singles play commenced, STAC quickly claimed three matches to clinch the team victory and advance to the Round of 16 in the The Grand Canyon State. No 4. Henry Ronnberg downed Andrea Albiero 6-1, 7-5 before No. 2 Theo Renoux defeated Viktor Hockl in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 to put the Panthers on the brink of elimination. The final blow came via No. 3 Don Vinz Lominoque, who bested Spyridon Papageorgiou 7-6 (1), 6-4 to end the day's events and send the Spartans and their fans into a joyous celebration.
