Boyds, Md. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team picked up their third straight 7-0 shutout victory in the span of a week on Friday, and second against the University of the District of Columbia, with this one taking place at the Montgomery TennisPlex.
STAC improves to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in ECC play, while UDC falls to 2-6 and 0-3.
Doubles
STAC took the early momentum by winning all three doubles matches to claim the team point. The first result came at No. 3 doubles, where Erik Victor Tauson and Ondrej Sramek won by default. The Spartans followed with another win at No. 2 doubles, as Theo Renoux and Alberto Espinosa Navarro blanked Ignacio Lopez Fernandez & Alexander Stevens-Lee 6-0. The final doubles match to finish came at No. 1, where Don Vinz Lominoque & Nagamitsu Kuroda bested Filippo Vatteroni & Ambrose Evamy 6-2.
Singles
Singles play saw the maroon and gold take all six bouts to win the match. No. 6 Alberto Espinosa Navarro won his contest by default, followed by No. 4 Nagamitsu Kuroda blanking Ignacio Lopez Fernandez 6-0, 6-0 and No. 2 Ondrej Sramek beating Ambrose Evamy 7-5, 6-1. No. 5 Nathan Yacar shut out Alexander Stevens-Lee 6-0, 6-0, with No. 1 Henry Ronnberg defeating Elouan Queguiner 6-3, 6-2 and finally No. 3 Erik Victor Tauson downing Filippo Vatteroni in straight sets 6-0, 7-6 (5) to close out the day's events.
