Williamsville, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team extended its current winning streak to seven matches on Saturday with a 7-0 shutout victory over Daemen University at the Miller Tennis Center.
STAC improves to 13-3 overall and 5-0 in ECC action, while Daemen falls to 4-14 and 0-5.
Doubles
STAC took the early momentum by winning all three doubles matches to claim the team point. The first result came at No. 3 doubles, where Ondrej Sramek & Erik Victor Tauson beat Jordan Hamdan & Pablo Viera, 6-1. The Spartans followed with another win at No. 2 doubles, as Don Vinz Lominoque & Nagamitsu Kuroda downed Lucas Garcia & Mitch Pollack, 6-1. The final doubles match to finish came at No. 1, where Theo Renoux & Henry Ronnberg bested Lasse Mergens & Rohan Chitanand, 6-2.
Singles
Singles play saw the maroon and gold take all six bouts to win the match. No. 5 Erik Victor Tauson won his contest against Jordan Hamdan 6-0, 6-0, followed by No. 4 Nagamitsu Kuroda besting Mitch Pollack 6-1, 6-1 and No. 6 Nathan Yacar beating Pablo Viera in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. No. 3 Ondrej Sramek downed Rohan Chitanand 6-1, 6-2, with No. 2 Don Vinz Lominoque defeating Lasse Mergens 6-3, 6-1 and finally No. 1 Theo Renoux dispatching Lucas Garcia 6-4, 7-5 to close out the day's events.
