STAC Men's Tennis Rebounds with 5-2 Triumph Over Adelphi

Garden City, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team got back on track Monday afternoon, with a 5-2 non-conference road victory over Adelphi University on Long Island.

STAC improves to 16-4 on the year, while Adelphi falls to 12-7.

Doubles

Doubles play saw Andrea Albiero and Viktor Hockl set the tone early for Adelphi with a commanding 6–1 win over Henry Ronnberg and Theo Renoux, finishing first and giving the Panthers the initial edge. Adelphi kept the momentum going in the third match, where Leo Silverston and Spyridon Papageorgiou battled past Ondrej Sramek and Erik Victor Tauson, 6–4, clinching the doubles point with the decisive second victory.

STAC managed to grab a win in the final match of the session, as Nagamitsu Kuroda and Don Vinz Lominoque edged Louca Bertone and Thomas Horsley in a tight 7–5 contest.

Singles

Singles action swung in STAC's favor early, as Henry Ronnberg delivered a dominant 6–1, 6–3 win over Andrea Albiero to get on the board first. Shortly after, Theo Renoux backed it up with an emphatic 6–4, 6–0 victory against Viktor Hockl, extending STAC's lead.

Adelphi responded in the third match to finish, where Spyridon Papageorgiou came through in a tight battle, edging Don Vinz Lominoque 6–3, 7–6 (6) to keep his side within reach.

Momentum continued to build as Lorenzo Meschini outlasted Louca Bertone in a three-set contest, 6–2, 1–6, 6–3, putting STAC firmly in control. The clinching point came from Ondrej Sramek, who secured a 6–4, 7–5 win over Thomas Horsley to seal the match. In the final result, Nagamitsu Kuroda capped the day with a 7–6 (5), 6–2 victory against Leo Silverston, closing out singles play on a high note for STAC.
