Spartans Surge Past UDC 20-3 in Senior Day Blowout

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team wrapped up the home portion of their 2026 schedule on Saturday afternoon with a dominant 20-3 Senior Day triumph over the University of the District of Columbia at Spartan Field.

STAC moves to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in ECC play, while UDC falls to 1-8 and 0-4.

Prior to the contest, the Spartans honored their graduating senior class; James Guild, Jeremy Poggi, Hayden Gaudette and Austin Palen with on-field ceremonies, which included the athletes' families, friends, teammates, coaches and college administrators.

Once the pregame festivities concluded, Cam Wallace (2 assists), Christian Rodriguez (1 assist), Nicola Greer and Tre Turner led the Spartans' offense with three goals apiece on the afternoon, while Lou Takacs (4 assists) and Wilson Ingalls (1 assists) each tallied a pair of goals, and Nathan Thomas, Abe Wallace and Jeremy Poggi all added a goal to the totals on the scoreboard. Hayden Gaudette (W, 4-9) got the start in between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 14 of 17 shots fired faced in a little over 57 minutes of action. Jaden Heltzel came on briefly in relief in the second quarter while Gaudette served a penalty. Heltzel stopped the only shot he faced in a little over two and a half minutes of play in the net.

Meanwhile, UDC was led by Amarius Sekajipo (2 assists), Alan Fuentes and Kelvin Pham, who each scored a goal for the Firebirds. Goalie Israel Amajioyi (L, 1-8) turned aside 11 of 31 shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

St. Thomas Aquinas wasted little time responding after an early strike from UDC. Alan Fuentes opened the scoring for the Firebirds, but the Spartans quickly flipped the script. Wilson Ingalls ignited the offense with back-to-back goals, sparking a dominant run. Jeremy Poggi and Nicholas Kostewicz followed with unassisted tallies, while Abe Wallace and Nicola Greer added to the surge. Cam Wallace capped the explosive first quarter with a late goal, giving STAC a commanding 7–1 lead.

The Spartans continued to pour it on in the second quarter, extending their advantage behind a balanced offensive attack. Cam Wallace netted his second of the game, and Christian Rodriguez and Wallace added quick goals to push the lead to 10–1. UDC briefly halted the run with a man-up goal from Kelvin Pham, but Rodriguez answered again—this time off a feed from Wallace—to send STAC into halftime firmly in control, 11–2.

Coming out of the break, St. Thomas Aquinas maintained its momentum. Rodriguez completed his hat trick with an unassisted goal early in the third, and although Amarius Sekajipo responded for UDC, the Spartans answered emphatically. A man-up goal from Greer, followed by scores from Lou Takacs and Nathan Thomas, stretched the lead to 15–3 heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was more of the same, as STAC put the finishing touches on a dominant performance. Takacs opened the frame with another goal and later assisted Tre Turner, who would go on to record a hat trick in the quarter. Turner added two more goals down the stretch, while Greer contributed his third of the contest. The Spartans closed the game on a decisive note, securing a commanding 20–3 victory.
