Hooksett, N.H. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team continued their road travels on Monday by visiting Mark A. Ouellette Stadium and No. 19 USILA nationally ranked Southern New Hamshire University.
Leading 15-3 through three and half quarters of play, the host Penmen saw their comfortable lead begin to evaporate with the Spartans scoring five straight times in the final 7:46 to make for nervous times in Hooksett. Despite the rally attempt, Southern New Hampshire held on for the 15-8 victory.
STAC falls to 1-2 on the season, while SNHU remains perfect at 3-0.
Cam Wallace led the Spartans' offense with three goals on the afternoon, while Max Benoit and Liam Noseworthy each tallied a pair of goals and added an assist and teammate Christian Rodriguez scored a goal of his own. Hayden Gaudette got the start in between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 15 of 30 fired in his direction.
Meanwhile, Southern New Hampshire was led by Aidan Blouin, who tallied three goals and added two assists, while Joey Gallo netted three goals, Lasse Volquardsen added two goals and an assist and Matt Feole scored twice. Sean Dwyer (1 goal, 2 assists), Patrick Roy (1 goal, 1 assist) Kyle Beckett (1 goal, 1 assist), Tucker Townsend (1 goal) and Charlie Pisciotta (1 goal) added to the totals on the scoreboard for the Penmen. Goalie Matthew Roy made 11 stops on 14 shots in a little over 50 minutes of action, before being spelled by fellow netminder Tyler LeBlanc. LeBlanc turned aside two of seven shots in just under 10 minutes of relief.
