Great Neck, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team closed out its 2025 Fall Semester schedule in spectacular fashion on Saturday evening by shutting out the United States Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point), 8-0, at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink on Long Island.
STAC improves to 12-3-2 overall and remains perfect in MCHC play at 8-0-0.
Christopher Smith recorded a hat trick for the Spartans, while Jeremy Poggi tallied two goals. Teammates Nicholas Delia, Andrew Fenninger and Sebastian Valles added to the totals on the scoreboard with a goal apiece. Michael Pippo (W, 9-1-0) picked up his second shutout of the season, stopping all 12 shots faced over 60 minutes of action.
