Record Setting Season Comes To A Close, As Spartans Fall In MCHC Final

Great Neck, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team concluded its record setting 2024-2025 season on Sunday afternoon, falling to Sacred Heart University 13-2 in the program's second consecutive Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference Championship final at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink on Long Island.

STAC wraps up its campaign with a 16-8 overall record and an 11-1 MCHC mark.

This season the Spartans compiled many record-setting milestones, including setting a new mark for wins in a season (16) under ninth year Head Coach Matt Schuster, eclipsing the previous total of 15 in 2023-2024.

In Sunday's final, Jason Desalvo and Noah Barr scored a goal apiece. Goaltender Michael Pippo (L, 11-6) stopped 58-of-67 shots faced in 53:22 of action, with Theo Morris closing out the contest (6:38) and allowing four goals on ten shots faced.
