STAC Ice Hockey Ranked No. 27 In Latest ACHA M3 National Poll

Riding a four-game win streak into the upcoming Metropolitan Collegiate Ice Hockey playoffs, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team is currently ranked No. 27 in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division 3 National Poll, released earlier this week. STAC holds an 15-7 overall record and an 11-1 MCHC mark, which allowed the Spartans to secure the second seed in the conference's postseason tournament.

The maroon and gold are led by sophomore Andrew Fenninger with 26 goals and 37 assists (63 points), sophomore Jason Desalvo with 20 goals and 33 assists (53 points), freshman Anthony Prunty with 20 goals and 13 assists (33 points) and sophomore Nicholas Delia with 16 goals and 17 assists (33 points) through regular season play. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the puck, junior goaltender Michael Pippo has a 10-5 record with a 3.90 goals against average and a .902 save percentage, appearing in 15 contests played to date. Teammate and sophomore Theo Morris has the Spartans five other victories (5-2), while posting a 4.66 goals against average and an .884 save percentage over 13 games.

The team's offense scores 5.95 goals per game, while their defense & goaltending lets up an average of 4.27 goals per game.

No. 2 seed St. Thomas Aquinas College (15-7, 11-1 MCHC) faces No. 3 seed SUNY Maritime College in the semifinal round of the MCHC postseason tournament, which takes place on Saturday, February 22 (8:30 p.m.) at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink in Great Neck, New York.
