Winners of seven of their last ten games, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team has jumped two more spots to 31st in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) National Poll, released earlier this week. STAC holds a 9-5 overall record and a 5-0 MCHC mark, and recently scored a key conference victory over Yeshiva University (13-1).
The maroon and gold are led by sophomore Andrew Fenninger with 16 goals and 26 assists (42 points), freshman Anthony Prunty with 13 goals and 9 assists (22 points) and freshman Jason Desalvo with 11 goals and 22 assists (33 points) over the first 14 games. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the puck, goaltender Michael Pippo has a 5-4 record with a 4.53 goals against average and a .900 save percentage, appearing in nine regular season contests played to date. Teammate Theo Morris has the Spartans four other victories (4-1), while posting a 4.47 goals against average and an .876 save percentage over nine games.
The team's offense scores 5.71 goals per game, while their defense & goaltending lets up an average of 4.57 goals per game.
St. Thomas Aquinas (9-5-0, 5-0-0 MCHC) returns to MCHC play on Saturday, December 7, visiting Western Connecticut State University. Puck drop between Spartans and Wolves is set for 3:30 p.m. at Danbury Ice Arena in Danbury, Connecticut.
