The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team has earned the #6 seed in the East Regional of the 2023 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament and will take on #3 Southern New Hampshire University.

St. Thomas Aquinas had already qualified for its eighth consecutive consecutive trip the the field of 64 on the strength of Sunday's 72-66 ECC Final victory over the Daemen University. Eight bids were awarded in the region with champions from the ECC (St. Thomas Aquinas), Northeast-10 (Saint Anselm), and Central Atlantic (Caldwell) capturing automatic bids and the others issued on an at-large basis.

The Spartans (26-4, 15-1 ECC) and Penmen (20-8, 16-4 NE10) did not face each other during the 2022-23 regular season, and have matched up against each other just three times in history of both programs. STAC currenly holds a 2-1 record in the all-time series matchups.

First Round games will begin on Saturday, March 11 at top-seed and hosts Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. Times for each of the opening round contests will be released in the coming days, and the winner will advance to face the winner of #2 Bentley vs. #7 Dominican. The other side of the East bracket sees #1 Saint Anselm taking on #8 Caldwell, with #4 New Haven squaring off with #5 Pace.
