Demetre Roberts Earns ECC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Accolades

St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball player Demetre Roberts was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans 4-0 week on the hardwood.

Roberts averaged 18.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in four games (Feb. 8 - Win vs. Mercy College, 91-77, Feb. 12 - Win vs. College of Saint Rose, 97-92, Feb. 13 - Win vs. Roberts Wesleyan College, 81-76 and Feb. 14 - Overtime Win vs. Roberts Wesleyan College, 90-85) last week. The junior guard from Mount Vernon, N.Y., shot 47.6 percent (20-for-42) from the field, 57.9 percent (11-for-19) from three and 91.7 percent (22-for-24) from the foul line. 

Demetre started the week against Mercy by posting 18 points on 75 percent shooting, including 4-for-5 from deep, and added three assists. The junior guard recorded 15 points while dishing out nine assists in STAC’s win at Saint Rose. Roberts averaged 20 points and 3.5 assists in a pair of wins at Roberts Wesleyan over the weekend to cap off a solid week.

#17/11 ranked St. Thomas Aquinas (6-0, 5-0 ECC) closes out their road trip on Wednesday, February 17, in an ECC tilt at Mercy College. They return to Aquinas Hall to host Molloy College on Saturday and Sunday, February 20 and 21, with both games starting at 2:00 pm.
