Faelt Earns First Collegiate Win; Spartans Cruise at Thomas Jefferson

Norristown, Pa. - The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Golf team earned its first victory of the spring season with a wire-to-wire win at the Thomas Jefferson University Spring Invitational. In the victory, senior Albin Faelt edged out teammate Diego Ocasio for his first collegiate win. During the first round of play, the team battled difficult, cold conditions but managed to post a team low score of 293. Leading the charge was Faelt, who carded a spectacular round of 69. Juniors Noah Barnatt and Diego Ocasio both played solid rounds, shooting 74. Newcomers Ethan Jolin and Conor McKenna rounded out the team scoring, shooting 76 and 78, respectively. After the first round of play, the Spartans sat 1 shot ahead of Goldey Beacom.

During the final round of play, Diego Ocasio played a brilliant round of golf, carding a bogey-free 68. Faelt continued his steady play, firing a round of 72. Conor McKenna and Noah Barnatt contributed with rounds of 77 and 78, respectively, while Ethan Jolin struggled to finish with a final round 83. The team's final score of 295 was good enough to pull away from the field and earn the Spartans a 19-shot victory. Senior Albin Faelt's 2-day score of  141 (69-72) was just enough to hold off teammate Diego Ocasio, who fired a total score of 141 (74-68).

The Spartans are back in action on March 30-31 at the Barry University Battle of the Lakes down in Miami Lakes, Florida.
