The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team finished out the 2018 Spring season finishing 8th in the NCAA East/Atlantic Super Regional. Michael Miranda and Hamish Houston completed their final rounds as Spartans including four NCAA Regional Appearances and two NCAA Championship trips in 2016 and 2017.
Miranda finished the tournament tied for 4th place after posting scores of; 70, 76, 70 to finish even after the three rounds. Houston along with teammate Shkelqim Kukaj finished tied for 17th place overall. Houston carded, 72, 77, 74 while Kukaj posted scores of 75, 75, 73.
The Spartans finish another succesful Spring season. Prior to the start of the Regional, the team had a 300 team scoring average which ranks 5th in school history. In nine tournaments over the fall and spring, the team placed in the top 5 in eight of those events and had three runner up finishes. The Spartans finished the regular season ranked 3rd in the East Region.
Miranda finishes his career having played over 100 collegiate rounds and maintained a 74.17 scoring average while doing so. Over his career he posted 28 rounds of par or better and shot in the 60's on 11 occasions, including four first place finishes. Fellow senior Hamish Houston, has become one of the best players on our team, lowering his scoring average over 3 full strokes to 73.69 ranking him 6th in school history. Houston also earned his first collegiate victory this fall at the Post Invitational.
