Spartans Finish in 6th After Day Two of NCAA Regional

DANIELS, W.Va. – Franklin Pierce took the tournament lead in the second day of play at the 2018 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Tournament.  The Ravens posted a team score of 291 in the opening round and recorded a 300 in day two; good for a one-stroke lead.  Concordia shot a round-low 295 as a team for a two-day total of 592 and sits in second place followed by Indiana (Pa.) (583), Le Moyne (594), and Charleston (595). 
 
Roberts Wesleyan and St. Thomas Aquinas are tied for sixth with two-round scores of 600 followed by Mercyhurst in eighth (601). The Spartans held a one stroke lead over the field after the opening round to sit in first place entering Tuesday's round.  Senior Michael Miranda shot a second day score of 76 to put him at +2 for the tournament and tied for 8th place.  Fellow senior Hamish Houston shot 72, 77 and is currently among the top twenty, tied for 19th place.  The Spartans will tee off in the afternoon on Wednesday beginning at 12:00 on hole number 10.
 
Concordia’s Minwoo Park carded a round-low 69 on the day after shooting a 70 on the opening day.  He holds a three-shot lead over Ryan Rucinski (Wilmington (DE)).  Connor Sheehan (Millersville) and Mike Hoare (Indiana (Pa.)) are tied for third with two-day scores of 143.
