The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team finished in 7th place shooting their best team score of 288 on the final day of the Battle at the Shore hosted by the University of Tampa. The three day event started on Monday.
Kevin Gately tied for 5th place overall after posting a 68 on his final round. Gately carded 70, 76 and 68 for his three rounds. Michael Frizalone and Michael Miranda each finished in the top 30 shooting 9-over after three days.
The Spartans were among the top half of the 16 team field which which included seven Top 25 teams in the Golfstat relative rankings, including No. 2 Lynn, No. 4 Nova Southeastern, No. 5 Florida Southern, No. 11 Florida Tech, No. 22 Flagler and No. 25 Central Missouri.
#3 ranked Barry University won the event shooting 7-under as a team and held the lead for all three days finishing their final round with the low team score of the week at 276.
Hamish Houston and Brendan Hunter finsihed with three day totals of 232 with Houston carding a 1-over, 72 in his second round.
The Spartans will return to action at the end of the week when they host the St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational at Rum Point Golf Course in MD. The 2-day event is scheduled to start on Sunday.
