The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team finished in 2nd place at the LeMoyne Fall Invitational. Sophomore Michael Frizalone finshed tied for 2nd place overall carding a 72, 71 in the two day event.
The Spartans were in first place after the opening round held at the Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club. Brendan Hunter led the Spartans with a 70 on day one, tying for first place and putting the Spartans above the rest of the pack. Frizalone's 72 along with Michael Miranda's 73 and Kevin Gately's 74 gave the Spartans a three stroke lead over Rollins University.
Frizalone continued his solid play with a team low 71 on day two. Gately and Miranda posted scores of 73 and 74, respectively. Southern New Hampshire's Gavin Dugas tied for a low round of 68 for his second round. While teammates Drew Kane and John Clancy each carded 71's to boost the Penman ahead of the Spartans by five strokes.
STAC maintained a three stroke lead over third place Rollins. Hunter finished the tournament tied for 11th place while Miranda and Gately finished tied for 13th overall.
This completed the Spartans Fall schedule. STAC opened the Fall season with a first place finish at Franklin Pierce and added two second place finishes. The Spartans will begin competing again in March 2017.
