Forward Madelief Heijmans of the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Field Hockey team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Week, following the Spartans season-opening, back-to-back matches against Bloomsburg University and D'Youville University last weekend.
Heijmans (Oisterwijk, Netherlands) recorded her first collegiate hat-trick in only her second match, a 6-4 setback to the visiting Saints on Sunday.
STAC hosts Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday, September 11 at Spartan Field, with the Spartans and Owls set to do battle beginning at 3:00 p.m.
