STAC Baseball Holds Seventh Position in Latest NCBWA East Region Poll

On the heels of a 3-3 week on the diamond, including wins over Bloomsburg and ECC opponent Queens College this past week, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team holds the seventh position in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region poll.

Leading the way for STAC is Nick Oelcher (RJr.|Holbrook, N.Y.), who has swung a hot bat to date, hitting .394 (41-for-104) with nine doubles, three homers, 26 RBI and 28 runs scored over his first 31 games. He has also swiped 11 bases in that span.

Spartans slugger CJ Cumbo (Gr./East Meadow, N.Y.) has also remainded strong at the plate, hitting .347 (34-for-98) with four doubles, two triples, six home runs, 33 RBI and 31 runs scored in 31 games. CJ has also drawn 23 walks and stolen nine bases.

On the mound, STAC pitchers have held opposing hitters at bay (.300 Batting Average), and as a staff have posted 21 wins in 33 games played with a 6.78 ERA. In 262.2 innings pitched, maroon and gold hurlers have surrendered 308 hits, 220 runs (198 earned) and have walked 146 while fanning 212. 

STAC (21-12, 10-8 ECC) visits Georgian Court University for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, April 15. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. at ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood, New Jersey.
