Sparkill/Pomona, N.Y. - Former St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball pitcher Aaron Dona has signed a contract with the New York Boulders of the Frontier League, following his five-year collegiate career as a member of the Spartans.
Dona reported to a very familiar ballpark, Clover Stadium, on Thursday as the Boulders closed out a three-game series with the Empire State Greys. Clover Stadium also serves as the home field for the St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team.
In his debut for New York on Thursday night, Dona made a relief appearance out of the bullpen in the ninth inning, allowing only a hit while striking out three Greys hitters. New York rolled over Empire State 17-5 to improve to 10-8 on the season.
Aaron Dona put together an outstanding 2023 season for STAC, posting a 6-4 record with a 4.28 ERA in 12 appearances (12 starts). In 73.2 innings pitched, he surrendered 66 hits and 40 runs (35 earned), while walking 28 and K'ing 109 opposing batters.
Dona also set a new single-season mark in strikeouts (109), passing former record holder and fellow Frontier League pitcher Frank Moscatiello (Quebec Capitales) and sits second all-time in career strikeouts (277) for the Spartans, just behind Rob Frank (293).
Over his five seasons (2018-2023) in maroon and gold, the Gloversville, N.Y. native amassed a 13-9 mark with a 3.74 earned run average in 41 appearances (38 starts).
Aaron's individual awards, honors and accolades were numerous during his final year as a Spartan in 2023, including:

- ECC Pitcher of the Year & First Team All-Conference

For fans wishing to see former Spartan Aaron Dona in action, the New York Boulders play their home games out of Clover Stadium in Pomona, N.Y. and will travel to face local Frontier League opponents; the Sussex County Miners (Skylands Stadium - Augusta, N.J.), the New Jersey Jackals (Hinchliffe Stadium - Patterson, N.J.) and the Tri-City Valley Cats (Joseph L. Bruno Stadium - Troy, N.Y.).
