James Patterson, Jeremy Poggi, Tylor Brino-Dean and Chanelle Russell were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for November.
Tylor Brino-Dean, Women's Triathlon:
Tylor Brino-Dean qualified for the 2023 NCAA/USA Triathlon Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships by way of her 24th place finish at the East Regional and went on to place 40th in the National Championship race in Tempe, Arizona on November 11.
Brino-Dean's heat two race at regionals featured the fastest varsity athletes in the east, and she worked hard all season to earn her spot in the field. Brino-Dean performed admirably and finished in a time that would have challenged for the win in heat one.
At the national championship, the Harrisonburg, Virginia native had a respectible swim and then showed her skills on the bike, making up a number of spots in the field. The hot desert sun made it difficult for all of the athletes competing, but Brino-Dean hung tough and became only one of three STAC Triathletes in program history to finish the entire event.
