Chris Cepeda and Giovanni Dingcong were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for May.
Chris Cepeda, Baseball:
Cepeda posted a 2-1 record in four starts with a 0.30 earned run average; giving up 16 hits and 3 runs (1 earned run), while walking only 4 batters and striking out another 16 in 30.0 total innings pitched during the month of May.
The red-shirt sophomore pitcher from Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. held opposition batters to a .158 batting average and had a 0.66 WHIP during this time period.
As a result of his outstanding play, both to end the regular season and in post season play, Chris was recognized by the ECC with All-Conference honors.
