Caroline Finnen & Amanda Schweitzer and Briele Caples & Michael Miranda were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for April.
Caroline Finnen, Women's Lacrosse:
Caroline tallied 22 goals on 57 shots in eight contests during the final month of the season. She also recorded 5 helpers, to place her first on the team in scoring with 27 points. Finnen had 3 successful draw controls, 5 ground balls, 1 caused turnover and went 5 for 11 from the 8-meter line during that stretch.
The junior attack from Hicksville, N.Y. paced the Spartans to a 3-5 overall record in the month, including two key conference victories over UDC (17-5) and Queens (14-6).
Amanda Schweitzer, Softball:
Schweitzer posted a .372 batting average, going 29-for-78 at the plate, with 10 RBIs and 6 runs scored during the month of April. Amanda played in all 28 of the Spartan's games, also contributing seven doubles and a homer, while opposing pitchers walked her six times.
The freshman utility player from Stony Point, N.Y. has also been a mainstay defensively for the Spartans, as Schweitzer posted a .954 fielding percentage, while making committing only 3 errors during her time in both the infield and outfield.
