As the Spartan Track & Field team gears up for the East Coast Conference Championships on February 24th, they competed at the St. Joseph's College Invitational where both the men and women finished in 3rd place out of 20 schools.
The men's team started out by taking 1st place and 2nd place in the 60 meters where St. Jacob Diodonet finished in 6.93 and Winslow Dorsainvil took 2nd with times of 6.94. Diodonet then came back and took 1st place in the 200 with a time of 22.42. Lugduni Desrosiers also had a great day taking 6th place in the 200 with a time of 22.92 and then ran the 400 in a time of 50.75 to take 3rd place in the event. Dylan Bestler took 6th place in the 800 with a time of 2:02.18. The 4x800 team of Vinny Vazquez, Diodonet, Robbie Guidicipietro, and Bestler took 2nd place in the event with a time of 8:13.30. Tristan Holmgren took 2nd place in the High Jump with a jump of 1.90m (6'2.75). Elias Guardado took 6th in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.19m (20'9.25). Frankie Schiavone took a 6th place finish in the Pole Vault with a vault of 3.35m (10'11.75).
On the women's side Victoria Jones-Alleyne bettered her provisional time in the 60 hurdles with a time 8.77 which won the meet and puy her at number 30 in the country. Victoria also won the triple jump with a leap of 11.22m (36'9.75) and 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.13m (16'10). Camille Cameron also had a great day winning the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.87 and taking 2nd in the 200 with a time of 26.26. Amber Lubaszka took 9th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.93. In the Women's Mile Kristen Borriello ran her top time of this year by running 5:14.93 to win the event. Rebecca Macleod took 3rd in the 3000 with a time of 10:56.17 and fellow teammate Aida Torpey ran a time of 11:10.97 to take 6th place. Katie Mollahan threw a season best of 11.46m (37'7.25) to take 3rd place in the event.
The Track & Field team will next compete at the ECC Championships on 2/24/17 at Ocean Breeze starting at 5 P.M.
