Eagles Edge Spartans, 5-4

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's tennis team lost a hard fought battle to Post University, 5-4 on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Javier Munoz was honored in a pre match ceremony that represented his final home match as a Spartan.  

Munoz won his 2nd flight singles matches, 7-6 (5), 6-1.  Munoz paired up with Eddy de Abreu for an 8-2 win in doubles.  Eddy de Abreu won his singles matches 8-1 to give the Spartans their 4th team point.  Andreu Ferragut and Enej Hasicevic won 8-2 in the 2nd flight doubles.

Munoz is a three year captain and currently holds the program record for career victories with 85 combined singles and doubles wins.  

STAC will return to action on Friday when they compete in the ECC men's tennis championship taking on #1 seed Queens College.  The Spartans are back in the tournament for the fourth time in five seasons looking for their first-ever ECC crown. St. Thomas Aquinas posted a 2-3 ECC record (10-7 overall) on the year. Queens was victorious in the two schools' regular season matchup, defeating the Spartans by a tally of 7-2.
