The St. Thomas Aquinas field hockey team beat Mercy College 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon. Meghan McCarren scored two goals for the Spartans.
McCarren scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Jacqueline Dowling. Both team were even in shots with 5 apiece through the first half. The Spartans held a 7-4 shot advantage in the second half adding two more goals to secure the victory. Arielle Rodriguez scored at the 57:32 mark. McCarren added her second goal five minutes later off an assist from Jade Hall.
Suzanne Clarke had seven saves in goal. The Spartans will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Molloy College for a 1:00 p.m. game. STAC beat Molloy 3-0 in their previous meeting on September 10th.
