Courtney Dumain and Lovisa Engstrand were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for October.
Courtney Dumain, Women's Soccer:
Courtney recorded a 4-4 record in 8 games played for the Spartans during the month of October, with a goals against average of 0.88 and a save percentage of .873.
Dumain, a junior from Monroe, NY was a a force in the net for STAC, as she recorded 4 shutouts, including blankings of Roberts Wesleyan, Concordia, Washington Adventist and Lincoln.
As a result of her stellar play, Courtney was named the ECC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on October 10th.
Lovisa Engstrand, Women's Tennis:
Engstrand went 7-1 in singles competition and 4-4 in doubles play for the Spartans during the final month of the season.
Lovisa, a freshman from Stockholm, Sweden, played an integral part in her team's playoff chase, as her victories powered STAC to a 5-7 record in October, three of those wins against ECC opponents, which gave St. Thomas Aquinas the fourth seed in the ECC Women's Tennis Tournament.
The East Coast Conference recognized Engstrand on four different occasions for her outstanding abilities on the court. On October 2nd, 10th and 16th, she was selected as the ECC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week, and on October 24th Lovisa was named to the ECC Women's Tennis All-Conference Second Team.
