Alex Bertolino and St. Jacob Diodonet were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for February.
St. Jacob Diodonet, Men's Indoor Track & Field:
Diodonet had a very busy month of February, as he placed third in the 200 Meter Dash (21.75) and ninth in the 400 Meter Dash (48.93) at the Fast Track Invitational on February 9th and took first place finishes in the 200 (22.24) and 400 (48.88), and fifth in the Long Jump (6.53m/21' 5.25") at the St. Joseph's College Invitational on February 11th.
The junior sprinter from West Milford, NJ continued his monumental season at the East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 23rd, helping bring home the squad's first-ever conference championship, taking first in the 60 Meter Dash (6.89), 200 (21.83), 400 (48.66) and 4x400 Meter Relay (3:22.07), while finishing eighth in the Long Jump (6.32m/20' 9"). Saint-Jacob also participated in the Boston University Last on February 25th, improving his already NCAA National Championship qualified times, as he placed third in the 400 (47.98) and eighth in both the 200 (21.44) and 4x400 (3:20.78).
As a result of his outstanding body of work on the track, Diodonet participated in the 2018 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, where he finished 15th in the 200 (21.64) and 16th in the 400 (48.65). He was also named the ECC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, received First Team All-Conference Honors in the 60, 200, 400 and 4x400, while picking up an ECC Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors on February 12th.
